When Sara approached us to design the Kids Corner for her indoor playground café in the suburbs of Chicago, it was clear from the very first conversation that she knew our work well. She came to us with a thoughtful brief and, most importantly, trusted us with a great deal of creative freedom to help shape her dream space.

Working closely with Sara throughout the process, we carefully planned each zone to ensure the layout flowed naturally and reflected exactly how she envisioned the space being used. The playground was designed as part of a larger site of approximately 3,250 sq ft, with generous ceiling heights of 12 ft, allowing the play structure to feel open and inviting.

The design focused on a clearly defined yet flexible play area of around 1,000–1,500 sq ft. This included a dedicated baby zone with soft play, positioned thoughtfully between the doors to create a safe and calm environment for the youngest visitors. The main play structure became the central feature of the space, designed to be visually engaging and adaptable, with a strong focal point that draws children in. Alongside this, a flexible party and class area was planned, intentionally left open without permanent walls, allowing it to transform easily between birthday parties, events, and classes.

This project was a truly collaborative journey, combining Sara’s clear vision with our experience in creating playful, functional environments. The result is a space that feels intuitive, well-balanced, and full of character, a place designed to grow with the business and be enjoyed by children and families alike.
